Every year on March 17, thousands, if not millions, will become Irish for the day and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with gatherings, parades, parties, food and drink.

Yet why do we celebrate this non-US holiday? Where do the traditions of wearing green and consuming Irish drink and food come from?
